Every TEI kit starts as billet metal, not a casting. A look at what goes into building one.

Calipers

TEI calipers are machined from aerospace-grade aluminum — 6082 for the standard range, 7075 for the S60-EXPLORE. Depending on the model, the caliper body is either split (two-piece, bolted) or one-piece forged, then CNC-machined to final tolerance.

Brake discs

TEI discs are cast from G3500 high-carbon alloy steel and heat-treated at 600°C. Every disc uses a ventilated design for cooling, and runout — how true the disc spins once mounted — is held to ≤0.05mm on the assembled disc and bell.

Every kit is pressure-tested before it ships

Before a caliper pair leaves the factory, it's pressure-tested. If it doesn't pass, it doesn't ship.

Brake lines

TEI brake hoses are built in three layers — a PTFE inner liner, a stainless-steel braided sleeve, and a PVC outer protective layer — sized to the DOT 7.3mm standard.

Bell & bracket

The bell, which mounts the disc to your hub, is machined from aerospace-grade 6061 aluminum. The bracket, which mounts the caliper to your vehicle, is machined from 45# steel and cut to your vehicle's specific knuckle data rather than a generic template.
